For Thursday

We've been having crazy amounts of these here, lately:

No A.C., Disappointment, and a Lesson in Faith

This past week has been humid in Nebraska. It's all for that dang water we sit on top of , and it makes Lincoln feel like a jungle mid June-late August. It started early this year, and about 4 days ago, we turned on the A.C....and there was a puff of gross, wet air, and then...nothing. "Uh-oh" "Ugh. I knew this would happen as we're trying to sell the house!" Those were both my comments, by the way. The first was my 'angel' side, thinking, "This? No problem, sure, an inconvenience for a few days, nothing more" but the other? The devilish side, who always takes over when yours truly is H . O . T . If you don't know me very well, know this: One reason that I am really looking forward to moving to the Pacific Northwest this summer is because of Nebraska heat/humidity. It can easily reach above 100, and have about 97% humidity (and as we are smack-dab in the middle of the US, we have no "coastal waters" relief...it just sits he...

Finally, Our Vacation Pics

Stefan feeding the sweet mama and baby ducks that came by our villa every morning and night! Lukka having fun at the wedding reception.

A Friend's Birthday Present

My friend E had a birthday back on May 15th. We both took vacations for a week after that and so didn't see each other for awhile. I tried to find her the perfect present but could not find it anywhere. I searched every internet site after googling and everything was sold out or backordered for months. Then along came my last chance. Lo and behold, my favorite online store, Etsy , had a brand new copy for cheaper than it was retailing! PS--This isn't that important unless you are said friend, if you aren't, it's a ploy to tell you about Etsy, already! PPS--This post was meant for Monday--how did I forget a day already? More to come later on...

Painting the Porch--Saturday

Stefan and I (and Lukka) were working hard on Saturday trimming the shrubbery, mowing the lawn, weeding the garden, and painting the porch. Here are two before and after pictures for you (if you look past that adorable baby in a hat, you'll see the chipped white (rails) and blue (flooring) paint. It looks great, hubs! Talk about some nice Curb Appeal. To a nice, clean white and a muted sea green.

Casablanca, Bonk, An Interesting Night.

Stefan and I got Netflix back in early spring, and all of the movies I've chosen were the 2008 Academy Award Nominees (sadly, I hadn't seen a single one) and some of the classics I had never seen. We both loved Gone With the Wind (the first movie my mother ever saw) and just the other night rented Casablanca . I don't think I had ever seen a movie with Ingrid Bergman in it, but we both really liked the movie. S. usually doesn't like black and white movies, but he's a sucker for a respectable character. Throughout the movie, Rick (Bogart) is a constant rollercoaster of a character, one minute thinking "What a scoundrel!" to "Oh, she should be with him!". Memorable quote (to be honest, first heard on When Harry Met Sally), "I think this is going to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship". Who doesn't like a Robin Hood story? Bonk: The Courious Coupling of Science and Sex , by Mary Roach This nonfiction book was one of the fun...

Round 1

I have been doing a lot of things during my day lately, and have been so tired that during the evening I do not want to blog, but go lay on the couch and read a book . Until today. I have the willpower to do 7 posts today (movie/book reviews, some recent goings on) and then just put them up one/day this week. After this week, I am going to take a chanllenge I first saw here and recently saw here . It's fun and colorful, and with minimal words (as an English major, I could write you a book on just about any topic), which I think will be good for me. We've had so much happen in the past month, and so much to happen in June/July. And so unfolds post #1: We haven't sold the house yet, however, we're still very hopeful, and a couple came back this week to look at it a second time after viewing it first on Sunday . This is a great sign. What isn't a great sign is that our realtor isn't answering any of our emails or phone calls. We've had about 1-3 people/couple...
