BOOK GIVEAWAY!!

Dear Readers,

You've been so great the last year of my bloggy life, and I've wanted to do a give-away for awhile now. My first thought was something handmade, but I think that will be saved for another time, as I just can't churn out anything else until my Handmade Christmas is done! My next thought was...well...what the heck else do I write about?

My other favorite hobby....books!

My 2008 Book List was a bit scattered. Of course, out of the 20 books I had on my list, I read a little over half...and then I read almost 19 more that weren't on my list! (Current read: Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin for my newly started Grace Chapel Book Club for January.)

I will post my 2009 Book List in another post, but it is a lot shorter. I think it is 15 books, and three of them are short short short poetry books. I just couldn't follow the list when there were so many books I found at the library. Also, with a new baby coming, AND a new book club (that's 12 extra books right there!) I wanted to give myself some space!


Onto the giveaway already....


For this giveaway, I have a copy each of my favorites from this year, found in mint condition at my favorite used bookstore, Bluestem Books.

i honestly am not sure what my favorite book of all time is....i feel like a bad person for that!
I am currently reading new moon after finishing Twilight....
I think my favorite book is Three Dog Life, by Abigail Thomas. I LOVE memoirs and this one made me laugh and cry!

I'm clearly in a different world as my current reads are Enterprise Risk Management and US GAAP. :S These are clearly not my favorites though! I'd go with a tie between Freakonomics and About a Boy. I'm boring, I know.

Favorite book of all time? That's a hard question to answer!
My favorite books this year were Rasputin and Freakonomics....my favorite of all time...hmmm, I'm going to go with The Scarlet Pimpernel.

my favorite book of all time is 'just as long as we're together' by judy blume. i read that thing about 20 times! i would finish it, then just reread it immediately :)

Favorite book of all time... hmmm... Probably has to be The Outsiders. I don't even know how many times I read it in high school. I should read it again and see if I still love it as much as I did then!

My children have recently become enthralled in the world of board games. I was never a board game player. Sure, I remember long summer hours (days? it seemed like it..) spent around a Monopoly board, but I was never one to suggest to get out the cards, or a game. Home School Resources: Links we Love

It's a list of where I find games, books, crafts, and fresh inspiration. Also included are articles I've loved about home schooling. One of my favorite websites about homeschooling, updated daily, is Simple Homeschool . It's a shoot off branch of SimpleKids & SimpleMoms, and they often have great giveaways, advice, and have concise and interesting topics. A friend recently guided me to World Book Online to find the general requirements of each grade. At the curriculum fair I went to in April, I remembered two vendors that I want to revisit if they return. How To: DIY Sand/Water Table

How To: Build A Sand/Water Table for Under $30 ! Sorry this took me so long to blog, but I had to have a tool list and full instructions before I could do so. A little history on my love for the sand/water table . I love the idea behind tools for tiny hands, i.e. the Montessori Method , and like to have Lukka 'figure things out for himself', even when he is playing. I try to have the most simple and basic toys available for 3 reasons: a) simple toys generally have less parts, which means less of a hassle for me b) simple toys inspire way more creativity and imagination than do 'exact replica' toys c) they are much more aesthetically pleasing to look at, therefore, not making every nook and cranny of our house an eyesore!
