Book Review: Bossypants by Tina Fey

When I heard that Tina Fey had a book coming out and this was the first chapter I read, I quickly went over to my local library's website to put my name down to hold it. I was number 64. Other than the Harry Potter phenomenon, I'd never been that late to the game. However, to my surprise, the 63 people in front of me were very fast readers. I had it within two weeks.

(A miracle being as I'm STILL waiting for Mad Men from my January listing at number 36! Not that I'm bitter and impatient...)

This book is not really a memoir, it's more of a collection of humorous stories--chapters (ha)--in her life that begin with being small and ending with 30 Rock Season ___. I don't often read comedic stories, but I am a huge fan of David Sedaris (but to be clear, the older David Sedaris, his new stuff is a little bland for my taste) and I love to laugh out loud when reading a book. Especially in public.

This book is hilarious and very conversationalist. If you're able to pick up her slang and sarcasm throughout the book, don't care about a mild dose of lewdness between reads, and are interested in how a large TV production office works, this is the book for you! Okay that last part made it sound boring, but it really was a good beach read. Just under 300 pages, I flew through this in about two days. I think just about anyone who has seen the mock Palin and Clinton together would get a kick out of this book, ya know, if you like that kind of humor. Damn teenagers. Bossypants gets 4 out of 5 stars for fun and hilarity!

Just started this book last night. It's definitely written a bit unusually, but I can see how it will keep me laughing throughout!

How To: Build A Sand/Water Table for Under $30 ! Sorry this took me so long to blog, but I had to have a tool list and full instructions before I could do so. A little history on my love for the sand/water table . I love the idea behind tools for tiny hands, i.e. the Montessori Method , and like to have Lukka 'figure things out for himself', even when he is playing. We've Gone and Done It

We are in the midst of packing up, and moving. Not just any move, but The Move we've been trying to accomplish for years now. We're heading up to (Washington) Canada. In the last couple of months Stefan had been talking to a potential employer up in Richmond, British Columbia , and after a very swift interview process they offered him the job. Small and large details aside, he accepted and plans to start on February 25th. We leave one week earlier, on the 18th. That's literally just over 2 weeks from when you will read this. We told family and close friends first, and while we haven't been keeping it a huge secret, our church, as a whole, did not know until last night because it was then we could tell everyone at our seasonal congregational meeting what our plans were in person, and with many of them all at once.
