Upcoming Posts and Link Love

Hey All,
We had been without internet for about 5 days this week. We had a virus on our computer and we had to "Nuke" it so to speak. Luckily before it crashed we were able to buy a big hard drive to save all our files. Even though I had my (rather large) collection of music on our computer along with a lot of written files from college that I was proud of, I was most anxious to save all of our family pictures!
I have about five posts I'll be writing up this weekend, including a book review of The China Study, a how to on tips for making different ice creams, my favorite flavor of the week being Cocunut French Mocha. YUM! A review on Soap Nuts and a few new BabyMast posts including a book review or two, and some more pictures, along with a few craft projects (Christmas!) I've been working on!

Soulemama reveals her second book, Handmade Home, of which I'll be doing a review on in upcoming weeks. I can't wait to get it!
My favorite homemaking blog, Keeper of the Home, shows us how to save all those delicious blueberries that are in season right now, so stock up!

If I were to design clothes for myself (a longtime goal) I would design them right out of Shabby Apple or Tea Collection. Both places are amazing. I will take anything from S.A. in my size. Anything. Even a scarf. Please? I want this in my size!

Home School Activities: Board Games We Love

My children have recently become enthralled in the world of board games. I was never a board game player. Sure, I remember long summer hours (days? it seemed like it..) spent around a Monopoly board, but I was never one to suggest to get out the cards, or a game. As my children have grown and they are now able to do activities with me, I started noticing that they really took to puzzles (when done all together) and the one or two board games I happened to have kept in the storage room. They were always asking to play Candy Land and so I figured I should branch off a bit. Over the course of the last year, I have found GREAT games, even ones that I love to play alongside them. The amount of 'teaching' they have gotten through games is jaw-dropping. Counting, team-playing, math related patterning, are just some of the skills I've watched develop. It's a list of where I find games, books, crafts, and fresh inspiration. Also included are articles I've loved about home schooling. One of my favorite websites about homeschooling, updated daily, is Simple Homeschool . It's a shoot off branch of SimpleKids & SimpleMoms, and they often have great giveaways, advice, and have concise and interesting topics. A friend recently guided me to World Book Online to find the general requirements of each grade. At the curriculum fair I went to in April, I remembered two vendors that I want to revisit if they return. You were given a car by a friend of ours, cleaned it to perfection, fixed it up in places, and have driven your sister and friends all over for the past week in near-unbridled joy.
