Craft Update

I know I told you I'd do a craft update, but these are just a small bit of what I've been doing. I can't show you anything else (the majority) until after Mother's Day, (Wink Wink).

I have been knitting slippers like my life depended on it. Unfortunately, I didn't get a snap shot of any of these cuties with their funky buttons on the toes, but ya' get the idea. The blue ones were made for my Bug. He even got to choose his own buttons at the button store . He chose some cute little yellow smiley-faced suns, which I put vertically (4 of them). Every day he asks me if I made those for him, and he is just as proud as a peacock when I answer "yes! Just for you!".

I use the "Grandma's Slippers" pattern that is free if you're a member of Ravelry.com, but I actually use it just as a basic outline, I change the pattern a lot depending on size.
My mom had a plain white apron that had stains all over the front and which she wanted a bit of an update for. I gladly obliged to work my tedious applique into a bird on a branch, and on the other side (not visible) are a bunch of individual, randomly placed flowers. She liked it!
Some more slippers. My friend A is in leadership for our city's MOPS group, and they are holding a silent auction for a fundraiser. She asked me to donate a few crafted items and I said, sure!
This last item is a bit of a tease. I didn't actually piece those teeny tiny 1" X 1" squares together, but I did put the pink fabric on the back to made my Little Lady a doll quilt. It's the perfect size! I inherited a whole lot of fabric from the Queen of Re-purposing, Julie K. The pink and the squared quilt front was a part of the batch! The kids love playing with it.

Home School Activities: Board Games We Love

My children have recently become enthralled in the world of board games. I was never a board game player. Sure, I remember long summer hours (days? it seemed like it..) spent around a Monopoly board, but I was never one to suggest to get out the cards, or a game. Home School Resources: Links we Love

It's a list of where I find games, books, crafts, and fresh inspiration. Also included are articles I've loved about home schooling. One of my favorite websites about homeschooling, updated daily, is Simple Homeschool . It's a shoot off branch of SimpleKids & SimpleMoms, and they often have great giveaways, advice, and have concise and interesting topics. A friend recently guided me to World Book Online to find the general requirements of each grade. At the curriculum fair I went to in April, I remembered two vendors that I want to revisit if they return. 17! You're FINALLY 17! You can drive independently, and you have read the manual, watched professional drivers and gleaned tips from others about this test that you've been dreaming about for years. You were given a car by a friend of ours, cleaned it to perfection, fixed it up in places, and have driven your sister and friends all over for the past week in near-unbridled joy.
