Knitting Updates

Surprisingly I've been knitting quite a bit this summer. Even though it's so hot out and a fast-paced motion mixed with wool isn't always appealing, I've also been watching lots of movies. Thus, I need something to do during them!
I've been wanting to knit something out of my favorite baby knitting book, "Vintage Baby Knits" by Kristen Rengren for a long time, I just couldn't settle on a project. When I ordered my sweet harmony needles for my birthday, I snagged a few cheap skeins of Wool of the Andes in Iris Heather off KnitPicks. I knew this color & amount would be perfect for a wool soaker for the lady!
Although I loved making this, I'm sorry to say it doesn't fit her quite right. (Yes, I know the diaper is way up high on her back, not normal, for whatever reason I was in a hurry and didn't want to adjust it.) The sizing around the middle was perfect, but I should have knit one more inch or two for the 'bottom' ribbing (2X2), giving her legs a bit more ease . The girl inherited my thunder thighs, and has a bit more chubby legs than big belly, if that makes sense. I fear this cover won't even fit her come fall. I may just end up giving it away.
How's that for a good view? :)

Knitters: Although my daughter usually 'wears her size' in clothing, I found that the 9-12 mo size for the soaker was a perfect fit for my 16 month old ladybug. I should have tried it on her before going back to garter stitch with the middle ('bottom') ribbing, but didn't. Practice makes perfect.

Stay tuned: Lukka's Christmas sweater is in full force production and will be my vacation knitting, I'm almost done with the back already!

It is super cute, even if it didn't fit how you hoped! Does she usually wear wool soakers or some other kind of cover?

usually other covers, we have an array. :) I know the wool ones are expensive and so I wanted to try to make one since I know how!

My children have recently become enthralled in the world of board games. I was never a board game player. Sure, I remember long summer hours (days? it seemed like it..) spent around a Monopoly board, but I was never one to suggest to get out the cards, or a game. It's a list of where I find games, books, crafts, and fresh inspiration. Also included are articles I've loved about home schooling. One of my favorite websites about homeschooling, updated daily, is Simple Homeschool . It's a shoot off branch of SimpleKids & SimpleMoms, and they often have great giveaways, advice, and have concise and interesting topics. A friend recently guided me to World Book Online to find the general requirements of each grade. At the curriculum fair I went to in April, I remembered two vendors that I want to revisit if they return.
