Educents: Carus Magazine Deal



A few months ago I found a daily flash deal (i.e. Living Social) that was nothing but educational materials called Educents. The great thing about these daily deals are they are easy to spend about 15 seconds glancing over, and can save you major money on things you might have bought for full price. I'm a big believer in not buying things just because you have a coupon for, but that you actually need. I won't use the coupon just because it's $1.50 off. If I wouldn't have bought it in the first place, I'm still loosing money, not saving. 

In the past few months I have bought one product, at at least 50% off, and I would have bought it, or something similar, for much more. I've been happy with my purchase, which was a virtual pre-reader French video program that the kids now have access to for 1 year. If I didn't already have 3 out of these 5 magazines coming monthly in our home, this deal would be my second purchase. 

I've written many times about Carus magazines and how much I love them. They are ad-free, the subscription via Educents includes a free ipad version of each issue, and each magazine comes with it's own online game & fun 'room' that links to each month's issue. I often use the online games as rewards for the kids, who love to play computer games, and I know they are not only connecting with the topics & characters just read about in the magazines, but also ad & pop-up free, and completely wholesome.

Magazines are excellent gifts for kids, because they love getting special mail, and this magazine comes 9 times per year, and includes free online games. We've had these in our home for 3 years, and I recommend them all the time. I've even recommended them to school librarians back when I was selling Usborne books! I think that highly of them. They would be a great addition in your home for any age of child. They have magazines for toddlers & pre-readers, preschoolers, young & older elementary, through high school and also a Spanish magazine. We've Gone and Done It

We are in the midst of packing up, and moving. Not just any move, but The Move we've been trying to accomplish for years now. We're heading up to (Washington) Canada. In the last couple of months Stefan had been talking to a potential employer up in Richmond, British Columbia , and after a very swift interview process they offered him the job. Small and large details aside, he accepted and plans to start on February 25th. We leave one week earlier, on the 18th. That's literally just over 2 weeks from when you will read this. We told family and close friends first, and while we haven't been keeping it a huge secret, our church, as a whole, did not know until last night because it was then we could tell everyone at our seasonal congregational meeting what our plans were in person, and with many of them all at once.
